Sigma Gamma Rho, one of the DIvine Nine Black Greek organizations, has announced plans to raise $1 million for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the groundbreaking Memphis institution that treats children free-of-charge and is at the forefront of treatment for serious child illnesses.

Members of Sigma Gamma Rho find the hospital “to be an incredibly meaningful cause because its mission is lifesaving and impacts the world,” Rasheeda Liberty, the sorority’s grand basileus and board chair, said in a statement.

“St. Jude and Sigma Gamma Rho are united in supporting children facing catastrophic diseases and saving lives across across the globe,” Richard Shadyac, president and CEO of the American Lebanese Syrian Associated Charities (ALSAC), St. Jude’s fundraising and awareness arm, said in a statement.
