60 years since the 16th Street Baptist Church bombing

The "Wales Window" adorns the interior of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Alabama, on March 4, 2022, in Birmingham, Ala. The window was a gift from the people of Wales following a bombing at the church on Sept. 15, 1963, that killed four little Black girls and drew the attention of the world. Friday, Sept. 15, 2023, marks the 60th anniversary of the tragedy. Lisa McNair, the sister of one of the victims, said as the anniversary is remembered, she hopes people will think about what they can do to combat hate. Photo credit: Jay Reeves, The Associated Press
