Sixty years of the Voting Rights Act

President Lyndon B. Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act on Aug. 6, 1965, a culmination of about a century of demands for equal access to the ballot box. Black News & Views and the New York Amsterdam News, in collaboration with the Associated Press, have taken a look back and a look forward as America continues to grapple with the Black vote.
