The New York City Police Department released video overnight of a skateboarder who splashed paint on a downtown Manhattan statue of George Floyd, a Black man who died under the knee of a Minneapolis police officer in May 2020, setting off global protests.

The bronze bust of Floyd is among a trio of statues honoring notable Black Americans who’ve died. The others are late U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., a civil rights icon who pushed for voting rights, and  Breonna Taylor, a Black woman fatally shot by police in March 2020 during a botched raid.

The defacing took place Sunday morning, four days after the statues by Chris Carnabuci were unveiled. Together, the busts make up an exhibit titled, “See Injustice.”
