Vince Coleman was an incredibly talented base stealer in baseball. He stole 50 or more
bases seven times in his Major League Baseball career. And it was because of that
speed that teams coveted his talents.
In 1991, Coleman moved on to the New York Mets from the St. Louis Cardinals, and plenty of Mets fans looked for him to be the engine to their offense. Well, he never managed to play 100 games for any of the three seasons he spent in New York.

Coleman was not only an issue on the field, but an issue off of it. The biggest issue
emerged on July 24, 1993, when Coleman called himself, playing a practical joke, and
threw a firecracker in the Dodger Stadium parking lot. The explosion injured two children and an adult. Coleman would be placed on administrative leave from the Mets and was charged with a felony, eventually pleading guilty and receiving a fine and community service. He was later traded to the Kansas City Royals.
