Sports history in Black: Willie Mays breaks a home run record 

From all the hits to the basket catches, Willie Mays was an amazing player for the San Francisco Giants on the baseball field. On August 29, 1965, he added one more athletic feat to his Hall of Fame career: He hit his 17th home run for the month of August.

That not only set a record for the month of August at that time, but a record for any month in Major League Baseball.
