Civil jurors in Los Angeles County, California, on Tuesday found disgraced entertainer Bill Cosby guilty of sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl at the Playboy Mansion in 1975, according to the Associated Press.
The jury awarded $500,000 to the victim, Judy Huth, who is now 64.
“It’s been torture,” Huth told reporters regarding her seven-year legal battle. “To be ripped apart, you know, thrown under the bus and backed over. This, to me, is such a big victory.”
Jurors ruled that Cosby, 84, intentionally caused harmful contact, that he knew Huth was younger than 18 and that his actions were caused by an abnormal or unnatural interest in a minor, the AP reported.
Tuesday’s decision came almost a year after Cosby was freed from a Pennsylvania prison after his earlier criminal conviction for sexual assault was thrown out.
