Ohio and national groups have filed a third challenge to new legislative maps of the Buckeye State drawn by Republicans that they allege violate voters’ rights.

The newest lawsuit seeks to block the new maps of federal legislative districts approved Sept. 16 by the GOP-led Ohio Redistricting Panel.

“These maps should not be allowed to exist,” Pierette Talley, one of the plaintiffs, said in a statement published by The Washington Post. “If the maps remain in place, millions of Ohioans, particularly Black Ohioans and other people of color who live in these gerrymandered communities like Toledo, won’t have a voice in any policies impacting their lives that come out of the Columbus statehouse.”
