Amid an atmosphere in which HBCUs have struggled to raise donations and survive in recent years, Fisk University in Nashville has managed to beat the odds and raise money in the seven figures, according to Axios.

The fundraising feat is “borderline miraculous,” university Executive Vice President Jens Fredriksen tells the news organization.

The boost includes seven donations of at last $1 million, including a $1.5 million gift from an anonymous donor for the Fisk Jubile Singers and a $2.5 million donation from the R.I.S.E. Opportunity Foundation to groom students for work in the insurance industry.
