Southland shelter sees wild day of pet abandonment in forest preserves; ‘It’s never happened this many times’

Forest preserve police found the animals Oct. 11 in Kickapoo Woods near Riverdale and Beaubien Woods just north of Dolton, as well as one in a preserve in the northwest part of Cook County.
