SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: LeBron James and Chris Bosh acquired by Miami Heat

Forward LeBron James is one of the most popular basketball players of all time. But he did not always reach the lofty expectations people had for him, especially when he began his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2003. With mounting pressure to win a title and James hitting free agency for the first time in his career, he had a decision to make. Stay with Cleveland and continue to build towards a title, or go elsewhere?

In 2010, James chose elsewhere, shocking the world by leaving Cleveland and
joining the Miami Heat, where he united with his friends, forward Chris Bosh and guard
Dwyane Wade, who had re-signed with the Heat to play alongside Bosh and James.
While the announcement was made on July 8, the official acquisition of James, along
with Bosh, took a little longer to complete. And on July 10, 2010, James and Bosh were
officially acquired via sign-and-trade by the Miami Heat, rather than being signed
outright as individual players.
