SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Vince Carter logs a professional basketball record

When Vince Carter entered the NBA in 1998, he was traded on draft day to the Toronto
Raptors basketball team. Carter played well for toronto and became the face of their rise in the NBA’s Eastern Conference in the 2000s.

Eventually, the relationship wore thin and Carter was traded to the then-New Jersey Nets. From there, he would play for the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Dallas Mavericks, and Memphis Grizzlies before reaching his last stop with the Atlanta Hawks.

When Carter was with the Atlanta Hawks, he was primarily a sub, providing
veteran support to the young players. He played in Atlanta for two years and on Oct. 24, 2019, became the first athlete to play 22 seasons in the NBA.  Since then, LeBron James has caught up to Carter and will become the first player to play in 23 seasons when he suits up in the 2025-2026 NBA season.
