Trump to face Black journalists at their annual meeting

Former President Donald Trump, now facing stiff competition from Vice President Kamala Harris in the White House race, will appear at the National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago on Wednesday.

Trump, the Republican nominee, has low approval ratings among Black Americans. Harris, a Black woman and a Democrat, has replaced President Joe Biden in the contest.

Trump and NABJ announced the event would take place at noon Central Time on Wednesday. The conversation will be moderated by three Black journalists: Rachel Scott of ABC News, Harris Faulkner of Fox News, and Kadia Goba of Semafor.

“We look forward to our attendees hearing from former President Trump on the critical issues our members and their audiences care about most,” NABJ President Ken Lemon said in a statement.

“While NABJ does not endorse political candidates as a journalism organization, we understand the serious work of our members, and welcome the opportunity for them to ask the tough questions that will provide the truthful answers Black Americans want and need to know.”
