The father of a Black geologist missing from Buckeye, Ariz., since June is accusing law enforcement of not caring enough to work the case properly.

Daniel Robinson, 24, went missing after leaving work June 23, and since then, his father, David Robinson, has grown frustrated with the police response. A rancher found his vehicle with his phone, wallet and keys inside, in a ravine a few miles from the job site, The Daily Beast reports.

“If the (police) stepped up to the plate, I wouldn’t be standing here now,” David Robinson of South Carolina said Sunday during a press conference to draw attention to his son’s disappearance.

Robinson said he has launched his own search for his son because of the lack of action on the part of police, traveling to Arizona and even hiring a private investigator.

At one point, police indicated they would conduct a helicopter search but an officer telephoned Robinson to tell him they were canceling.
