Vice President Kamala Harris visited Nevada Monday to discuss climate change and water shortages in the state.

Harris toured Lake Mead, where officials updated her on the lake’s water levels and a drought affecting Nevada and surrounding states, KTNV reported. The Lake Mead Reservoir brings water to three states and parts of Mexico. It also affects farmlands and 20 million people.

In addressing the crowd, Harris made a pitch for the administration’s proposed infrastructure improvement plan.

“When we look at what’s happening here, we know this is about (not just) this lake but it is about a region and about our nation,” she said. “The infrastructure deal, combined with the Build Back Better Agenda, is about what we need to do to invest in things like water recycling and what we can do in terms of implementation of drought contingency plans.”
