A Sacramento, Calif., church is drawing ire from the community for cultivating a racist, whites-only parish.

Stephen McNallen, creator of the 700-member Asatru Folk Assembly, once believed that the white race came to North America first and was wiped out by other races. He has altered that belief to a theme of the white race being threatened with extinction. 

His church teaches that mixed-race families go against church values and transgendered people have a “tragic mental illness,” The Sacramnto Bee reports. 

The church, deemed a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center, has expanded into Murdock, Minn., and Linden, N.C.,
