The corruption trial of former South African President Jacob Zuma has been postponed until Oct. 26th, CGTN reports.

Zuma recently underwent surgery for an undisclosed ailment and is recuperating. He’d asked to have his jail time excused on the grounds that incarceration would further damage his health. Zuma has pleaded not guilty to corruption charges.

Zuma, a veteran anti-apartheid activist, was the victim of a political witch hunt, his supporters have said.

In addition to the trial postponement, Judge Piet Koen said that he also will attempt to issue a decision on that date in response to Zuma’s request to have the lead prosecutor removed from the case, CGTN reported.
