The Americana Music Association, a trade organization that advocates for authentic music, has awarded the Fisk Jubilee Singers the Legacy of Americana Award, a lifetime achievement honor presented in conjunction with the Smithsonian’s National Museum of African American Music. 
Dr. Paul T. Kwami, musical director, said in a statement that the award ” … reminds me of the sacrifices and contributions made by Fisk Jubilee Singers and the directors since 1871.”
The acapella ensemble based at Fisk University in Nashville travels the world to perform.
