A home run record

Willie Stargell was a towering gentleman that played first base for the Pittsburgh Pirates for 21 seasons.

He had a lot of great moments wearing that yellow and black uniform and the team had some success as well.  On this day in 1977,  Stargell stepped up to the plate and blasted his 400th home run out of the field of play. The Pirates would go on to beat the St. Louis Cardinals 9-1 that day, but it was Stargell that garnered all the attention with his milestone day. He would go on to hit 475 career home runs before his career ended in 1982.
