Sports history in Black: Al Attles wins 400th NBA game as coach

Some people are associated with teams and that’s how you always remember them. Even though players such as Hakeem Olajuwon and Michael Jordan wore different uniforms in their careers, they will each be remembered as members of the Houston Rockets and Chicago Bulls respectively.

Al Attles only wore the uniform of thePhiladelphia/San Francisco Warriors, and he is known as a Warriors lifer.

Attles played for the Warriors from 1960-1971 and even had his number 16 jersey retired by the organization. But what he did as a coach was memorable too. Attles coached the Warriors from 1970-1981 and won a title with the organization in 1975. On Dec. 2, 1978, Attles won his 400th career game as coach of the Warriors, defeating the Phoenix Suns 116-108.
