SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Chris Paul reaches milestone in NBA assists

Basketball analysts have said NBA point guard Chris Guard could lead a team. And they weren’t lying. Paul was a maestro on the court, pulling the right strings to make the teams he played for successful. He scored when he needed, got some timely steals, and also had some right-on-time passes.

With Paul’s mid-range game and precision passing, he is still playing in the NBA with the San Antonio Spurs. Even there, he helps organize the young talent. Before San Antonio, he was dishing out assists for the Phoenix Suns. On Mar. 21, 2021, he would take the ball out on the sideline and throw it directly to the rim as center DeAndre Ayton would catch it and
score. That assist to Ayton would give Paul 10,000 assists, joining John
Stockton, Mark Jackson, Magic Johnson, Jason Kidd, and Steve Nash as the only point
guards to reach at least 10,000 assists.
