David Robinson was a large-framed, professional basketball player who gave teams fits.
“The Admiral”, as fans dubbed the center, would dominate opponents with his midrange jump shot and his ability to get to the rim and finish. The combination of size, speed and power was unique. And because of that, he became a cornerstone for the San Antonio Spurs organization.
Robinson would go on to win a couple of titles with the Spurs during his lengthy career and
that is to be commended. But he also is to be commended for his individual efforts. One of
those took place on Dec. 26, 1997, when Robinson had 34 points in a 101-86 win over the
Boston Celtics. With those 34 points, Robinson officially passed the 15,000-point plateau for his career.
