Sports history in Black: Jamal Lewis sets a rushing record

Jamal Lewis was a highly-touted running back out of high school in the Atlanta area and he was also highly-touted when he declared for the NFL Draft out of the University of Tennessee.

On Sept. 14, 2003, Lewis went off running the football versus the Cleveland Browns. Lewis set the NFL rushing record that day, running for 295 yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries in a Ravens 33-13 win.
