Sports history in Black: Kobe Bryant announces his exit from the NBA

Kobe Bryant was and still is iconic in Los Angeles. After joining the NBA straight out of high school, Bryant evolved into star off the bench and eventually with the Los Angeles Lakers. He would win five titles with the franchise and become one of the greatest players to ever wear a Lakers jersey.

But many things in life must come to an end. Bryant knew that the 2015-2016 season was
going to be his last in the NBA. And on Nov. 29, 2015, Bryant took to the The Players’ Tribune sports media company to announce the 2015-2016 season was going to be his 20th and last in the NBA.

Unfortunately, Bryant was taken from us in 2020 in a helicopter crash, along with his 13-year-old daughter, Gianna, and seven others. Rest in paradise, Kobe Bryant.
