While most people are familiar with heavyweight boxers such as George Foreman, another boxer who deserves props is Larry Holmes. He was a talented athlete who showed power and movement in the ring. Holmes also was someone who could hold his own against anyone. And he proved that throughout his career.
On June 9, 1978, the unbeaten Holmes and the more experienced Ken Norton Sr. met in the ring in Las Vegas for the World Boxing Council heavyweight title. And in that battle, Holmes defeated Ken Norton in 15 rounds and subsequently won the heavyweight title.
