SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: NBA’s Chris Paul collects his 10,000th assist

Chris Paul has been one of the best point guards in NBA history while playing for the New
Orleans Hornets (now Pelicans), Los Angeles Clippers, Houston Rockets, Oklahoma City
Thunder, Phoenix Suns, and Golden State Warriors. The current Warriors point guard has been in and out of the starting lineup this season, but for most of his career, he has been the starting point guard for each of his teams. One of those teams was the Phoenix Suns, where Paul was starting alongside star guard Devin Booker.

One consistent during Paul’s career has been his practice of giving his teammates the basketball in the best positions to score. This has led to a ton of assists. And while in Phoenix, one of those assistants put him in legendary territory.

On March 21, 2021, Paul threw a pass to DeAndre Ayton for a score and with that pass, Paul collected his 10,000th assist in his career, joining NBA point guards Mark Jackson, John Stockton, Jason Kidd, Steve Nash, and Magic Johnson as the only point guards to reach this achievement.

Like all these point guards except for Mark Jackson, Paul will eventually becomd a Basketball Hall of Famer.
