Sports history in Black: Number one draft pick Kenyon Martin had broken leg

Kenyon Martin was a dominant in college basketball in his last season at Cincinnati and unquestionably the best player in college basketball.

The dominant big man was on his way to becoming the first overall pick in the 2000 NBA Draft but he broke his leg right before the start of the NCAA Tournament. That injury raised doubt about how he would be selected. But on this day in the 2000 NBA Draft,  the Nets selected Martin first overall despite the horrible leg injury.
