SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Paul Pierce makes legendary shot

Over the decades, many legendary athletes have played for the Boston Celtics basketball team.

From center Bill Russell and point guard Bob Cousy to forward Larry Bird, many players for the Celtics are entrenched in NBA history. Another one of those players was forward Paul Pierce.

Pierce was a key figure in winning a title for the Boston Celtics in the 2007-2008
season. But unfortunately, he did not get to finish his career as a Boston Celtic. He
would be traded to the Brooklyn Nets in the summer of 2013 before he signed with the Washington Wizards in the summer of 2014 as he began wrapping up his career.

But that career would not be over without one more signature moment. On May 9, 2015,
Pierce hit a jumper that would hit off the backboard and through the nets, giving
the Wizards a 103-101 win. After the game, Pierce famously said in an interview
walking off the court: “I called game.”
