Venus Williams was the first Williams sister who made a showing in the public arena. But Richard Williams always said to look out for her younger sister, Serena.

And on this day in 2009, she showed her greatness to the world and to her older sister, defeating her 7-6,6-2 to win the Wimbledon singles title. The win would become Serena’s third Wimbledon title up to that point. This is just a sliver of the success that Serena Williams has had as the greatest women’s tennis player of all time.
