Sports history in Black: Serena Williams defeats rival Li Na in Istanbul

There have been superstars in the world of sports, such as Michael Jordan, Tom Brady and LeBron James, but in the world of tennis, one name stands out above them all.

That name: Serena Williams.

The tennis phenom and her sister, Venus, came in like hurricanes and turned the tennis world upside-down.

One of those moments that vaulted Serena to superstar status took place on October 27, 2013. On that day, Williams won her fourth season-ending tennis title, defeating Li Na of China in three sets to win the Women’s Tennis Association Championships in Istanbul, Turkey.
