SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Shaq gets traded to the Phoenix Suns

Shaquille O’ Neal was one of the greatest centers of all-time. He could overpower with his
ability on the offensive arsenal strategy to score, find open shooters out of the post and anchor his team’s defense. He was the kind of player who would worry the that would keep the opposing coaches. But along with those attributes, there were qualities that would annoy coaches and those who liked to watch him.

One big issue was his tendency to be out of shape when his team needed him. And that along with other issues got him traded in his early career. He was traded from
Los Angeles to the Miami Heat for multiple pieces before helping the Miami Heat win a title.

But when the shine wore off O’Neal in Miami, the Heat knew it was time to move the big man on to his next destination. And on Feb. 6, 2008, the Heat traded O’Neal to the Phoenix Suns for forward Sean Marion and guard Marcus Banks.
