Sports History in Black: The Brown Bomber

Joe Louis went down as one of the greatest boxers in the history of the sport. Louis, whose nickname was the Brown Bomber, had a career record of 66 wins and 3 losses including 52 wins by knockout. Louis also held the title for the longest of anyone in heavyweight history, from 1937 to 1949. Over his career, he was a tough man in the ring if you were an opponent. On this day in 1951, he knocked out Lee Savold, his last opponent in the ring as his career started to come to a close.
