SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Tim Raines matches Ty Cobb’s feat

Baseball player Tim Raines was incredibly fast during his playing career. The outfielder had speed to burn as he left some in his dust, swiping bases left and right. And while doing so, he was climbing up the record books of Major League Baseball.

Raines would go on to steal 808 bases in his career, which had him at the level of the elite
baserunners. In the 1983 season, Raines was lethal on the basepaths and on Sept. 27, 1983, Raines stole his 70th base of the season. This made him the first player since Ty Cobb to steak 70 bases and knock in 70 runs in a season.
