One name that is always mentioned when it comes to stolen bases is Rickey Henderson. But during Rickey’s era, there was another name that shined, and his name was Vince Coleman.
Coleman spent most of his career with the St. Louis Cardinals. He was the only Major League Baseball player to steal over 100 bases in each of his first three seasons in MLB history. He built a reputation for himself and didn’t get caught much at all at the beginning of his career. All things unfortunately have to end and on July 29, 1989, his record streak of 50 consecutive successful steals in a game ceased to exist.
