SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Wilt Chamberlain sets a record

Basketball center Wilt Chamberlain performed many amazing feats during his career that included stints with the Philadelphia Warriors, the San Francisco Warriors, the Philadelphia 76ers and the Los Angeles Lakers

“Wilt the Stilt” led the NBA in total assists in the 1968 season. He was also the first player to score more than 4,000 points in a season when he scored 4,029 points in the 1961-1962 season while averaging 50.4 points per game. But one achievement he had will probably never be duplicated.

Chamberlain would retire with the Los Angeles Lakers after the 1973 season, playing his final game March 28 of that year. In his professional time on the court, Chamberlain played 1,045 games. And in those 14 seasons worth of games, Chamberlain never fouled out. Forward Karl Malone, who played for the Lakers and the Utah Jazz, would have a longer streak of games without disqualification, going 1,212 games before fouling out of a game. But no one in NBA history can say they went their entire career except for Chamberlain.
