The father of a Black central Arizona woman who suffers from schizophrenia has filed a suit with U.S. District Court charging that police violated her Constitutional right against unreasonable search and seizure when they held her at gunpoint and Tased her while she was unarmed.

The lawsuit filed Sept. 25th by the father, Lewis Williams, charges police in Globe, Ariz., violated the Fourth Amendment rights of Memory Burns, Williams’ daughter, by unlawfully entering her apartment, falsely imprisoning her and using unjustifiably excessive force when they responded to a call of loud noises, banging and arguing, the Law & Crime site reports.

The officers neither saw nor heard anything to indicate a crime had been committed or that anyone needed help, the suit alleges.

The police department in Globe, about 90 miles east of Phoenix, did not respond to Law & Crime for a comment.
