After years of being charged with racism, the CBS reality show “Big Brother” is about to get its first Black winner.

The development comes about at least partly because six Black contestants, calling themselves “the cookout,” bonded to insure all non-Black competitors would be booted and that a Black person would win.

The Los Angeles Times noted that series host Julie Chen Moonves neglected to mention the historic turn during the final minutes of the most recent show during which the last non-Black participant got the boot.

“I don’t feel that this production is equipped to deal with race,” TV critic Andy Denhart told the Times.

The show is taped in Los Angeles.
