SPORTS HISTORY IN BLACK: Blake Griffin drafted by Clippers

When the NBA Draft comes around, you hear about star basketball players who are
involved in it and also what picks could be selected. But in the draft process, there is
always one player who stands out above the rest. And that player is usually the first
overall pick.

In the 2009 NBA Draft, the player everyone was talking about was University of
Oklahoma Sooners power forward Blake Griffin. The talented freshman averaged 22.7
points and 14.4 rebounds per game while taking over college basketball. He was athletic, and NBA scouts saw the potential of Griffin to get better. And it was because of that athleticism and potential that the Los Angeles Clippers drafted Griffin with the first overall pick on June 25, 2009.
