The Minnesota Twins have a lineage of great athletes who have played for the Major League Baseball team over the years, but one player stands above them all. Outfielder Kirby Puckett was drafted third overall in the 1982 Major League Baseball Draft by the Twins. After spending a couple of years in Minor League Baseball, Puckett made his debut in the majors on May 8, 1984.

From Puckett’s first appearance in the majors with the Twins, he was a solid player. Over his career, Puckett was a .318 hitter, which demonstrates an exceptional level of skill. With his high level of talent during his time in Minnesota, it did not take him long to compete for most hits in Twins’ history. Eventually, on June 26, 1994, would pass second baseman Rod Carew for second place, with 2,088 hits. Puckett would raise his total to 2,304 before being forced to retire at age 35 due to glaucoma. He finished second on the Twins’ all-time list to outfielder Sam Rice.
