The 1990-1991 Chicago Bulls were a basketball team on the rise. They had young stars in guard Michael Jordan and forward Scottie Pippen, but they could not get over the hump to
beat their Eastern Conference nemesis, the Detroit Pistons.

In the 1991 NBA playoffs, they were finally able to get over the hump and beat the Pistons, punching their ticket to the NBA Finals. Their opponent: the Los Angeles Lakers, led by guard Magic Johnson.
The Bulls, finally breaking through to the NBA Finals, did not waste the
opportunity to win their first title. Chicago would dispatch the Lakers in five games,
winning the title in Chicago’s 25th anniversary of being in the NBA. Jordan would be
named the NBA Finals MVP, scoring 30 points in the series-clincher on June 12, 1991.
