Sports history in Black: Jim Brown becomes first running back to exceed 10K yards rushing

Jim Brown was a special athlete. He could play any sport and did so while he was a student at Syracuse University, running the ball in football, playing basketball, running track and also dominating on the lacrosse field. But ultimately, Brown chose the NFL and football and went on to play for the Cleveland Browns. And in their history, he is definitely one of their greats.

An example of Brown’s greatness is what happened on November 1, 1964. Brown ran for 149 yards in Cleveland’s 30-17 win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. And with those 149 yards, Brown became the first running back to exceed 10,000 yards rushing. Brown had plenty of firsts, but this is one that defined his position.
