Sports history in Black: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar

Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is remembered by most as a Los Angeles Laker, dominating with that patented sky hook. He played from 1975-1989 with the Lakers and put up a ton of points playing with Magic Johnson. However, he was not always a member of the Lakers organization.

Back on this day in 1975, Abdul-Jabbar was traded by the Milwaukee Bucks to Los Angeles Lakers along with reserve center Walt Wesley for the services of swingman Junior Bridgeman, guard Brian Winters, center Elmore Smith and forward David Meyers. Needless to say, the Lakers handily won that deal.
