Sports history in Black: Floyd Patterson

November 30- Floyd Patterson may not be mentioned as one of the best boxers ever, but he did accomplish  a couple firsts in his career. On this day in 1956, Patterson became the youngest world heavyweight champion (21 years, 10 months, 3 weeks and 5 days old), defeating Archie Moore via a fifth-round knockout. Patterson also became the first Olympic gold medalist to win a professional heavyweight title.
